Eric Edward SIMMS

F/L Eric Simms

Seventy operational sorties over France and Germany in a Mosquito Fighter Bomber didn't leave Eric Simms much time to think about the future but he says that quite often the thought would occur to him, much like to live in Canada!
Eric the author often the article "Training Men Of Tomorrow - For Tomorrow" on our centre spread Pages was born in Kent, England and after 10-1/2 years in the Royal Air Force he came to Canada. His job at Canadair is section head of equipment - material control department and judging by his aeronautical background Eric is happy only when near aircraft.
In an interview with Eric we found out about six outstanding events in his life, life, namely his receiving the Polish Medal Of Honour while attached to a Polish Squadron; his appointment as Chief navigational officer with the R.A.F. Transport Command in Canada; his return to England and marriage to a Canadian girl; his job as navigation leader in the first flight of jet aircraft (Vampires MK 5) across the Atlantic in 1948; his arrival in Canada and Canadair; the birth of his daughter Susan, now 2-1/2; and his acceptance as F/L Navigation instructor his the Montreal West Squadron of the Air Cadet League of Canada,
Eric speaks with authority when talking about Air Cadets and perhaps in the near future he will be a leader in a Canadair Squadron.
