Local Air Cadets Capture Special Training Awards

          The Air Cadet League of Canada today announced the names of 509 top Air Cadets from across the country Who have been selected for special training awards provided by the League and the RCAF each summer. Chosen from some 19,000 Air Cadets in 273 squadrons, the award-winning youngsters have qualified for pilots' courses, leadership, training and good will exchange trips to the United States, Great Britain or the Continent.

          Recommended on the basis of their outstanding records as Air Cadets, the winners have passed through joint League and RCAF selection committees at local, provincial and national levels. They are rated as the "cream of the Air Cadet crop" for 1955.

          For two hundred and fifty of the cadets, the high point of their careers is the award of an RCAF scholarship covering 30 hours of actual flying instruction.' The four weeks' course will commence on July 4   and training will be given. at member clubs of the Royal Canadian Flying Clubs Association spaced across the country. Successful graduates will qualify for the Air Cadet flying badge as well as for private pilot's licenses.

          Winners in the two local squadrons, both sponsored by Canadair Ltd., were:
