"INTO THE WILD BLUE YONDER" 40 Air Cadets Fly With RCAF To Ottawa in North Star A/C 65 Percent of Boys Experience Their First Flight. All Agree It Was A Good ShowExcitement ran high on Saturday, November 6 when 40 members of No. 588 (Canadair) Air Cadets took to the air aboard a North Star Airliner. In cooperation with the R.C.A.F. and the Air Cadet Liaison Officer F/L Larry Corbeil, members of the squadron were taken on a two hour flight over Montreal and as far west as Ottawa. The trip was broken by a stopover for lunch at Uplands Airport, Ottawa. About 65 percent of those aboard had never been in the air before and the thrill of flying in an aircraft which their "dad" helped to build made the trip much more exciting. Each boy was given the opportunity to "go up front" and talk to the R.C.A.F. crew. From the number of intelligent questions the boys put forward it would seem that they are paying attention to their instructors and are learning about aircraft early in their cadet life. Accompanying the boys on their initial flight were F/L Eric Simms, o/c of the squadron and C/I Herbert Brehn. More of these flights are planned for the future and eventually every boy who wants a ride will be able to take advantage of this thrill of a lifetime. The following cadets made the trip to Ottawa: Robert Prieur — William Dutfield — Claude Tardiff — Girard Bolen — Anthony Conway - Terry Jesse — George Viger - John W.
