Highest Praise

For Air Cadets

Setting high standards seems to be a habit with No. 588 (Canadair) Air Cadet Squadron. Recently, F/L Eric Simms, o/c of the squadron, received congratulations from the Air Cadets liaison officer F/L Lawrence Corbeil for having such a fine turnout at all public parades in the Montreal area.

This is a remarkable performance in that the cadets have not been formed yet a year although to-date they have attended three important parades. They were the only squadron on parade at the Battle of Britain march past. They had 55 boys turn out at the Montreal Garrison parade when other squadrons within the city could only muster collectively 83 boys. F/L Simms was honoured when asked to lead the entire Cadet turnout. Again, at the Remembrance Day parade, our squadron was the only Air Cadet group to take part in the ceremonies at the Cenotaph.

Another important event which our boys are looking forward to is the AIR FORCE DAY parade scheduled for May of next year. Perhaps on this day 588 Squadron will receive further congratulations for a smart turnout.
